If you’re looking for the perfect gift for your car-loving relative or friend, then Halfords have a Christmas-cracker of an offer on right now.

The Meguiar’s Deluxe Car Care Kit V2 costs just £47.60 and includes seven of the most popular products from the detailing-specialist’s range. That’s a huge saving of almost 50% against buying the products individually – and there’s also a quality kit bag thrown in for good measure.

I’ve used Meguiar’s gear for many, many years and can testify to the quality of their products which are hugely popular amongst everyone from the once-a-month car-washer to the professional detailer who demands the very best results from any product they apply.

Front-and-centre in this line-up is the Hybrid Ceramic Spray Wax (768ml) which ads a slick, water repellent finish to the surfaces of your car – including glass and trim panels.

Super-easy to use, you simply spray it on after cleaning and rinsing the car. Then, using a pressure washer, rinse the product off before finally drying the car with a plush microfibre, leaving a shiny, protected surface. No more buffing or waiting for the product to cure. Durability is good with around 4 weeks of excellent water beading (for those of us who like that sort of thing).

Getting the car clean initially is easy with Ultimate Wash & Wax (473ml) – which I found a slightly odd choice for this kit as the previously-mentioned Ceramic Spray Wax nullifies the need to add any wax when washing your car. No matter, it’s still a good cleaning product which produces rich suds and lifts dirt and grime easily.

To tackle those brake-dust encrusted wheels we have Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner (768ml). This deep-cleaning gel formula is one of those products that turns a satisfying deep-purple colour as it chemically dissolves stubborn contaminants. It’s acid-free too, so can be used on all wheel finishes. For best results spray on cool, dry wheels, leave 2-4 minutes then hose off. Easy-peasy.

Once the wheels are sparkling, you’ll want the tyres to shine too and Meguiar’s Endurance High Gloss Tyre Gel (473ml) is probably the best on the market. As the name suggests, it endures very well – even in poor weather conditions, giving a rich, black gloss to the tyre wall. I’ve always found “less is more” with this product. Spread it very thinly and you won’t suffer any “splash-back” against bodywork when on the move. Realistically, during the winter months you’ll want to use it every week but I’ve found the bottle lasts for absolutely ages, if applied correctly.

To help get the most from your tyre gel, Meguiar’s also provide a Tyre Dressing Applicator Pad. This is one of those products that you initially think you can manage without; then after getting your hands (and everything else) covered in gel, you realise how indispensable this contoured foam pad, in its own holder, really is. It also makes the gel application more accurate so there is less waste than if you were to use a rag.

Finally, once you have the bodywork and wheels glistening, you’ll need to tackle the glass and mirrors. Meguiar’s Perfect Clarity Glass Cleaner (473ml) makes short work of this thanks to its unique formula which spreads easily – but more importantly wipes off easily without smearing. It has an anti-hazing element for longer lasting clarity and, as a bonus, is also great for removing dead bugs and bird droppings. One to keep handy inside the car before that bird poo etches its way into your paintwork . . .

Of course, the dedicated car detailer needs an enormous amount of good quality microfibre cloths for wiping on, wiping off, polishing and cleaning bodywork, trim and glass.

Meguiar’s provide three Supreme Shine Microfibre Towels in this kit to get you on your way. The plush, dual-sided towels are designed to safely and easily remove product residue. Perfect for polishes and waxes, they can also be used for spray detailers and glass/chrome cleaning.

All this quality product comes neatly packed in a Meguiar’s Kit Bag which holds the items securely in place. It contains some of the best products on the market for the serious car enthusiast.

So, if you know someone who likes their motor to be looking showroom-sharp all-year round then I reckon this could be the perfect gift. Just don’t tell them how much you saved . . .
