NEARLY a third of drivers in the UK want their car to be more comfortable, according to the latest research from Citroën.

Following a study of 2,000 UK drivers*, the French carmaker has revealed that comfort (45.4%) is second only to price (74.5%) in the list of priorities when choosing a new car in the poll of UK motorists. Drivers highlighted seat comfort (78.2%), legroom (55.5%) and ambient temperature (46.6%) as the three principal features affecting cabin comfort.

The research comes as Citroën continues to develop and hone its Advanced Comfort® programme, which is immediately apparent in the forthcoming New Citroën C4 and ë-C4 – 100% ëlectric.

Having a comfortable car isn’t just a priority for the driver either, as 85.2% of respondents said passenger comfort was important when choosing their next new vehicle. Citroën’s latest suspension systems with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions® ensures a relaxed driving experience for all vehicle occupants.

Centred on Citroën’s unique Advanced Comfort Seats and suspension with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions®, the brand’s Advanced Comfort® ethos delivers unprecedented levels on-board and driving comfort to drivers and passengers alike.

Using two additional hydraulic bump stops in the suspension – one for compression and the other for decompression – the hydraulic stops help absorb the energy from impacts with greater efficiency. Fitted as standard on New C4 and ë-C4, as well as C5 Aircross SUV, the system ensures a smoother ride over poor road surfaces.

The other key component of the Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme are the sumptuous Advanced Comfort seats, offered as standard on New C4 and ë-C4, and on the upper trim levels of New C3 and C5 Aircross SUV**. With broad cushions and seat backs, they combine high-density foam at the heart of each seat and a thick, textured foam on the surface, ensuring optimum comfort on any journey.

Citroën Advanced Comfort® is enhanced still further in the brand’s electrified models thanks to the concept of ‘ë-Comfort’, with silent and smooth powertrains creating the ultimate feeling of calm and serenity.

With parts of the UK now in lockdown and retailer showrooms currently closed, customers are encouraged to explore the Citroën UK ‘Virtual Showroom’, where visitors can explore the comfort of a new Citroën without leaving their home. Available seven days per week, between the hours of noon and 8:00pm, the service allows customer to engage with presenters immediately (where available) or schedule a product presentation at a time and date to suit the customer’s needs. The Virtual Showroom service features the brands most popular models currently including New C3 and C5 Aircross SUV with buyers able to view live walk-around tours of the vehicles via the web portal, during which an expert Product Presenter will use the latest video technology to introduce the vehicle and answer any questions over a secure video link.

Souad Wrixen, Citroën UK’s Marketing Director, commented: “Despite the ongoing crisis, UK drivers are still spending almost six hours each week behind the wheel. Our research shows that over a third of motorists wish their cars were more comfortable, and at Citroën we’re committed to ensuring that comfort is a priority – covering a wide range of measures that help promote health and well-being.

“With the advent of the Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme, we have set about redefining the concept of modern comfort to fit your requirements, including the feeling of space on-board, connectivity, ergonomic design, and a smooth, comfortable drive.”
